ARTIST’S STATEMENT:

My creative process is stimulated by the play of visually active patterns created by the seaweed, driftwood and sawdust on the burnished surface of the porcelain during the firing process.  I find the working with small areas of carved texture in contrast with the sooth satin-like polished surface provides a satisfying direction.

The fire leaves patterns that are often similar to nature on the vessels. The movement of light and shadow against the patterns and colors of the sea and earth give constant inspiration.                                                                             Afterglow
