Jill Daskalakis and Gay Durward met when Gay took a class in freeform crochet which Jill was teaching at PVAC.  They immediately realized that they shared a love for crochet as one of the most versatile and expressive of the fibre arts, and a joyous friendship and partnership was born.  They became known as "The Yarn Whisperers" and committed themselves to using their training in other media to produce wearable art rich in color, texture and design elements not usually associated with more traditional crochet.  Themselves lovers of wearable art, they assure that each piece is totally one-of-a-kind by using no patterns and allowing the piece to evolve organically..  Every stitch is done by hand by one of the two of them, using fine quality, exciting yarns from all over the globe which are produced in a cruelty-free or recycled fashion.  Their work has been seen in numerous art/craft shows such as the Contemporary Craft Market and the Pasadena Bead and Design Show, in galleries and in retail shops.
