Bill Grueskin Endows Scholarship

Bill Grueskin, Fall '75, has made a generous donation to ICCS to endow the Grueskin Scholarship. A former reporter and editor at publications ranging from the Rome Daily American to the Wall Street Journal, Grueskin now serves as dean of academic affairs at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

In making his gift,  Grueskin said, “An education in the Classics was, for me, the best possible preparation for a journalism career, and ICCS was the highlight of my undergraduate years. The opportunity to study the ancient city – by synthesizing lessons in literature, history, language and architecture -- helped me develop skills in critical thinking, writing and human nature. And the semester in Rome instilled a lifelong appreciation for Italy.”  The scholarship will assist students with financial need, and the first scholar will be awarded in Fall 2014.  ICCS is most grateful to Dean Grueskin for his support.
