The third Suzanne Deal Booth Scholar-in-Residence, Professor Erich Gruen of the University of California, Berkeley, visited ICCS from April 1-5, 2015. Professor Gruen is a specialist in Roman history. The ICCS is grateful to Suzanne Deal Booth for establishing this program that brings a leading Classics scholar to the Centro for several days each year to work with our students and faculty both formally and informally.
Highlights of the third Suzanne Deal Booth Scholar-in-Residence Week included a public lecture entitled “Constructed Ethnicities in Republican Italy,” and a class held on the Campus Martius regarding the Ara Pacis.
The fourth Suzanne Deal Booth Scholar-in-Residence will be Professor Jennifer Trimble of Stanford University.
The Centro's students, faculty, and friends greatly enjoyed Professor Gruen's visit and are grateful to him and to Suzanne Deal Booth for making the visit possible.
